The Story of Tel-Aviv
Nahum Gutman is a famous painter in Israel. He lives in Tel Aviv for
many years and knows the city well. He loves to paint the life in the
new Tel Aviv and in Israel. The people in Tel Aviv like Gutman's
paintings very much and ask Gutman to draw the history of Tel Aviv.
Gutman draws a large mosaic with four parts, and every part has a
story. The first story is about the old city of Jaffa. Jaffa is older than
Tel Aviv and it has a port and many orange trees. In the second and
third stories, people build Tel Aviv's first neighborhood – Ahuzat Bait.
There are few trees and much sand there, but the people there are very
happy. Slowly but surely [slowly slowly] there are more houses and
more trees, and the people can now go strolling at night as well,
because… congratulations! There is electricity in the city!
What does Gutman want to tell us in the fourth story?
