Netanyahu in a Jam

The police concluded their part in the one thousand and two thousand cases, with a recommendation
to indict the Prime Minister for bribery, but the political battle has only just begun. Prime Minister
Netanyahu was absolutely confident today that the coalition headed by him will continue to
function, but one of his coalition partners, chairman of The Jewish Home Naftali Bennett, who up
until now backed Netanyahu and announced that he isn’t corrupt, sounded a little different today,
“Look, a prime minister doesn’t have to be perfect, but he does have to be someone who (people)
say about him, this is how it should be done. Unfortunately, receiving gifts of such magnitude over
so much time, doesn’t meet this expectation of Israel’s citizens.” Bennett made clear that this is a
moral stand, politically he intends on staying in Netanyahu’s government. He’ll wait for the
decision of the Attorney General Mandelblit, whether to indict Netanyahu. Minister of Treasure
Moshe Kahlon also made clear that at this point he has no intentions of resigning. Today the
opposition parties decided to submit forty signatures in order to summon Prime Minister Netanyahu
for a discussion at the Knesset assembly regarding the recommendations. According to the Knesset
regulations, the Prime Minister is also obligated to arrive and directly hear what his peers at the
parliament think about the summation of the one thousand and two thousand cases.
