42 Annual Sports Day
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're
made of sweat, determination, and perseverance.
The school saw a fantastic day of sports
excellence as it enthusiastically celebrated its
42nd Annual Sports Day on 13th August 2022 at
Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore.
Mr. J. Karunanithi was the chief guest of the
ceremony. Shri Kailashmull Dugar was the guest
of honour. The day's proceedings began with a
euphonious prayer. The highlight of the day was
the march past led by the school pupil leader with
the contingent comprising of council members
and the four houses. The school, proudly
welcomed it's new energetic, rhythmic and
vibrant school band.
The chief guest Mr J Karunanithi (Member of
Legislative Assembly) took the salute. The sports
torch was lit by the chief guest who declared the
sports meet open. The students took part actively
in the oath taking ceremony on an optimistic note.
The school President Mr. Prakash Sacheti,
Managing Trustee Mr. L Dharmichand Singhvi,
Secretary Mr. Vijay Kothari, Correspondent Mr.
Kishan Srisrimal Jain and the Principal Mrs.
Swarnalatha Gopalakrishnan, welcomed the
honorable guests.
The chief guest addressed the gathering with a
motivational speech in the opening ceremony.
Students participated in several drills. The tiny
tots of grades 1 and 2 did a drill with flowers as
props, followed by grades 3 to 5 with their handy
hoops as props, the umbrella drill of grades 6 to 8
and a Zumba by high school. The bold and
stunning performance of Silambam and Yoga,
kept the audience spell bound.
The closing ceremony was graced by presence of Dr Aarthi
Arun, International Powerlifting Athlete and Guest of honour
Mr G Vijayasarathy, International Para Athlete and Trainer.
The winners of the various events were honoured. Nehaa A K
grade 11 was conferred with the prestigious individual champion
for U-19, KalaiSelvi S K of grade 10 for U-17, and Shamira of
class 8 for U-14
The winners of the drill were the Yoga Team. Deepanjali house
bagged the overall champion ship with 2000 points and was also
adjudged the best marching contingent.
The ceremonial passing of the school and house flags to the
Principal Mrs Swarnalatha Gopalakrishnan, signified the end of
the sports day which witnessed the enthralling performances
and enthusiasm of all the students. Multiple hours of training
and the strenuous efforts taken by team SBSM will ever be
inscribed in the history of the school.
