• Repaint (in a neutral colour) wherever necessary, both indoors and out. Replace any
broken items - doorknobs, door handles, handrails or windows. If a room is dark, turn

on a lamp or light candles to create atmosphere. Make sure that the towels in bathrooms
are clean, dry and non-tattered. Bring the washing in off the line
• Put out your garden furniture and cushions
• Keep pets out of the prospective buyer’s way at all times
• In winter, light a fire if you have a fireplace or use heaters to keep your home warm
• Add a homely touch and have home baked biscuits or fresh fruit on the table or kitchen
counter
• Banish odours and create enticing aromas by spraying the rooms with aromatic air
freshener, putting out fresh flowers and soap and putting some vanilla essence in a bowl
