What difference is there
between me and a raindrop?
We grow for a while,
show some movement,
then disappear.
Perhaps this is why I love rain,
why my land receives so much of it.
I am from that rainy land.
At home, I was often told
I came only to eat—
In a food-scarce place.
At times, I was called a burden,
a cause of suffering.
At other times,
I was seen as useful.
Contradictions surrounded me;
Perhaps that is why
I am often contradictory.
Sometimes I feel
I am from a wild forest—
That gave me a free spirit,
later tamed by society.
Still, a remnant remains,
revealing itself
from time to time.
Sometimes I feel
I came from a wolf
that wandered into human society,
where crowds were everywhere,
yet I felt lonely,
often secluded.
Now, I feel
I am from nowhere—
and from everywhere.
I have nowhere to go,
yet everywhere to go.
I do not know
what force directs me.
I have surrendered
to that force.
