The body is fragile.
Time is uncertain.
Death is not distant;
it simply waits.
Especially in a foreign land,
one feels the thinness of belonging.
Who will sit beside me
if illness comes?
Who will close the door
when I am gone?
I know—
once gone,
I will not know.
Still, the mind trembles.
Why does attachment grow
even in those who dream of detachment?
Why does fear accompany
the wish for freedom?
Perhaps this is the paradox
of being human—
we yearn for transcendence
while still loving the world.
I arrived in this life quietly.
No announcement,
no memory of arrival.
I wish to depart the same way—
without burden,
without noise.
Will that be my path?
I do not know.
But slowly,
I am learning this:
Acceptance is not defeat.
It is a soft surrender
to the law of impermanence.
