LIVING IN A STRANGER’S PLACE
Sometimes I ask myself
how I arrived at this house—
this address,
this corner of the world.
I did not know the people
who once called it home.
They did not know me.
There was no announcement,
no public invitation—
only a quiet opening
into which I stepped.
Was it design?
Or was it accident—
a random turn in a crowded city?
If I had reached Sydney earlier,
perhaps I would have taken another path,
signed another lease,
lived beneath another roof.
But my journey was delayed.
I paused to help someone.
Time shifted.
Plans adjusted.
And in that delay,
this house appeared—
almost as if waiting.
Is this how life arranges itself?
Through small hesitations,
through choices that seem costly
in the moment—
yet open unseen doors?
I do not know
whether to call it destiny
or coincidence.
Yet I felt something quiet within me—
as if sacrifice does not vanish,
as if goodness does not dissolve
into the air.
Perhaps there is a subtle balance
in the fabric of things—
a law not written
but lived.
