It was a Saturday night and I was looking for something to do other than seeing local bands that I'd seen
before, so it was a bit of luck that I'd been invited to a gig put on by a friend of mine, Dan Jenkinson, who
runs a Sheffield music promotion company called English Rain. Now, I'd been to gigs put on by English Rain
before, so I know that Dan knows his onions, and although I'd not heard of the headliners before, I knew it'd
be worth looking into. The band he'd invited me to see are called Fruit & Flowers. Hailing from Brooklyn,
New York, the band was part way through their UK tour. On looking them up, I saw their music described as
“Art Punk and Surf Noir”. Well, I've gotta say, that intrigued me, so I delved a bit deeper into what makes
this band tick -- and after looking at a couple of YouTube videos, that sealed the deal for me and I knew I had
to see them live!
The current lineup features Ana Becker, Caroline Yoder, Jose Berrios, and Rachel Angel, who joined the band
just prior to this tour. They didn't disappoint!
