MARCUS STRICKLAND is a saxophonist
who is often noted as a rising star in
jazz. In fact, Down Beat Magazine’s
Critics’ Poll awarded him the “Rising
Star” title twice, before that naming
him “Best New Artist” back in 2006. The
Blue Note artist has a modern
approach to jazz, with a unique
blending layers of hip-hop and
explorations in other directions. He
had Bigyuki join him -- ensuring the
experimental set would push the limits.
Their music was heavy with electronic
support and masterful in weaving
around the limits of musical styles.

BIGYUKI has collaborated with many since coming
to the states from Japan, including Talib Kweli,
Matisyahu, and Bilal. He even contributed to the
return album of A Tribe Called Quest and spent
some time in the house band of Stephen Colbert’s
Late Show. The keyboard phenom had his own
group in an intimate setting, igniting the room with
intense loops that combined hip-hop, funk, and at
times, an EDM feel, to create music that was
undefinable.
