Marty Haviik: Cash Lansky, love your name. Share a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? How
have your surroundings shaped you in a creative sense, and in what way(s)?

Cash Lansky: Why, thank you! Appreciate it. I've been told it’s one of those names that is hard to forget.
Born as Robert Dominic Lee Harris in Pittsburgh, PA. Moved to Anchorage, AK in ‘91. Been in Tucson, AZ,
since ‘99. I consider this place my home. I have 4 of the greatest kids on earth and married my high school
sweetheart. I think seeing and understanding different cultures has definitely helped shaped my creative
process. Culture shock is a real thing, LOL. Leaving Alaska, coming to Tucson, not knowing anyone, was a
          challenge for me at first.

MH: How did you get started and what inspires you?

CL: Really got the inspiration from my older cousin Shadik to be a rapper -- or at least to start writing down
my feelings. I thought it was the coolest shit in the world. He knew how to rhyme words together and it
made sense. He used to take me to the studio sessions with him and never wanted to leave to go do other
stuff -- even if I knew it was going to go have fun. I think life inspires me the most…the ups, the downs, the
beauty, and the ugly. I can normally pull from anything.

MH: What was your introduction to the Arizona underground scene?

CL: It’s weird, because it just kind of happened. I would just come across a lot of people who told me they
rap. It was from me selling weed to people who knew somebody that rapped or I would catch a mixtape at
the Circle K. I think my very first introduction to most of the scene had to come from a DJ named Milkcrate.

MH: At what age did you begin creating and in which mediums?

CL: I think I was around 12 when I wrote my first rap. Must have been about 14 when I recorded my first
song. It was on a boombox and I used headphones in the microphone jack over a Snoop Dogg beat with my
          homie. Ha, ha! Good times!

MH: Tell me about your involvement with other artists you might have collaborated with.

CL: I was signed to the West Coast legend Murs. Put out my second album with my brother-in-rhyme, Marley
B, produced by Bay Area’s DJ Fresh. I did a super cool Cypher on TeamBackPack. If you get a chance, go check
that out. I have this collaboration with Freddie Gibbs. I hope it drops soon. Really like that song!

MH: Who have you produced for? Who would you like to produce for?

CL: I am not a producer. Probably could be though. Actually, wouldn’t mind giving it a shot. LOL!

MH: What do you think your listeners will get out of your music?

CL: Hope! That you can and will be the best you. I want people to hear my music and believe that they can
get through anything this life throws at them. You put my music on and know that whatever you're going
through is just for the moment. It gets greater later.
