Next up was Atlanta-born rapper, actor, and businessman T.I. (also known as TIP), who is
recognized for having popularized the Hip Hop style known as "Trap Music" in the 2000s. T.I.
brought a fast-paced 90-minute show – switching between classic songs like “Rubberband Man”
and contemporary singles such as “Pardon.” T.I. came to life under the colorful AVA Amphitheater
lights, punctuated with mood-setting stage fog and supported by superb sound. As T.I. sang, he
sprang across the stage, establishing a lively, fast pace that persisted throughout his performance.
Leaning on the nostalgia of the younger generation, he called out to those who had followed him
since the beginning.
The studio versions of each song streamed loudly, but T.I. roared even louder, rapping line after
verse without missing a word or note. His energy was boundless, as he danced about the stage,
donned in a black T shirt and black shorts.
T.I. shouted at the beginning of the show that he "loved the energy tonight," and as the evening
progressed, his performance set fire to his fans and had the entire audience singing along and on
their feet.
Both artists delivered really stellar performances. Admittedly, they were new to me, but the good
news is, I would come back to see them if they include Tucson on a future tour stop.
