Matt Nathanson kicked off the tour with "Kill the Lights,” and I successfully
captured the first three songs from the pit. After those songs, Nathanson
seamlessly transitioned into "Car Crash," blending it with U2’s "I Still
Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For." I sang along to the entire set and
found immense joy in the experience; all the hustle was well worth it!
My first encounter with Matt was years ago in Times Square. At the time,
I wasn’t very familiar with him until he performed "Come On Get Higher,"
a song I love playing on the guitar and singing along to. He retains the
same charm and humor that captivated me back then, effortlessly making
the audience laugh with his playful banter.
One particularly amusing moment occurred when he pulled out his
phone to share an AI-generated country version of "Come On Get
Higher," claiming he could sing it in the bathroom all day, much to
everyone's amusement. He concluded his set with a fantastic rendition
of David Bowie's "Under Pressure," a song that holds nostalgic value for
me, as it was a favorite of my older brother.
