Recently my attention was drawn to an original artist who relocated from Pennsylvania.
She is what I would call musically gifted. Growing up the youngest of 4 children, she knew
by the age of 6 that her career choices would be as a veterinarian or musician. She started
taking voice lessons and learned the piano as well. These lead to playing guitar, sax, and
violin. I wouldn’t say she was a normal child. Anyway, this lady is my “ReverbNation
Featured Artist” …and her name is Renee Wahl.
Renee’s talent allows her music to traverse multiple genres. She is described as
Americana, but she can surely rock, too…outlaw country, country, alt country. Quite
frankly, too many genres to list. To me, music is all rock n roll at its core.
Renee Wahl did not make a typical move to Nashville -- she journeyed her way there. Not
only is she ultra-talented musically and attractive; she is massively intelligent, too…all
factors that matter in Nashville. This lady began her college career as a music major which
then, obviously, lead her to graduating with a physics degree just like most musicians. Ha!
Obviously, I say that in jest. From there, she ended up teaching in the Air Force for 12
years and took a special interest in studying time-travel in her free time. But, hey, who am
I to say all these flowery things about Renee? You can make your own decisions and

Renee’s latest release “Cut to the Bone” (March 15, 2019) is admittedly darker than most
of her work. Maybe this is why I love it. She worked in the studio with Stuart Mathis (The
Wallflowers, Lucinda Williams, Jewel). Apparently, he was able to get the best from her
personally. It is reflective of her innermost thoughts and perhaps, challenges. Together,
all that equals superb music filled with passion. I recommend “Meds” and “Me Before You”
for songwriting depth, specifically. However, my very favorite song is “To the Bone.” My
strongest recommendation is to purchase the album. It is reflective, passionate, and it
works for music-lovers of all types.
In closing, I want to travel back in time to visit Renee Wahl at 6 and ask her whatever
happened to the dream of being a veterinarian? I think that little girl would smile. Renee
now lives on a ranch outside Nashville with 9 dogs, 3 horses, and a donkey. So, traveling
back to the present and future, Renee will be hitting the road 2 to 6 weeks at a time. So,
you may not need to go to Nashville to see her. But, I love Music City and I will catch her
live there. Renee Wahl is the real deal.
