Nashville is an insider town. I have recently had conversations with people about this
very subject. Even though it is a super music hub and one would think that therefore, it
is filled with many opportunities, the fact is, it is difficult for outsiders to break into. It takes
time to establish oneself and earn the respect of the many gifted artists who live in that
wonderful, fun, talent-filled city. Some say it is better for songwriters than performers,
which in some degree may be true. I feel though, that the cream of the crop rises to the
top for performers. That, anyway, is my opinion and I am sticking to it.
I know a number of artists who have relocated to Music City, and a few who have
established themselves. This is difficult due to the sheer numbers of musicians living
there. Chances are that your Uber driver delivers driving beats on the drums. And your
waitress is a voracious vocalist. And the bartender that just served you a shot, also
shreds a guitar. Guess what else they are doing? They are building relationships and
establishing themselves as part of the music community.
