“Lufkin” is produced by Randy C Moore with Norbert Putman as an executive in charge of
production. On the ten-song album, Randy collaborates on two tracks with hit makers
Jessie Hunter (BMG Records) and David Lee (Jose Armadillo Music). Randy penned the
other eight songs himself for this project.
This release features a great lineup of musicians such as Greg Morrow on drums and
percussion, Norbert Putnam on electric bass guitar, Troy Klontz on pedal steel, with Randy
on guitar and piano as well as string arrangements.
Randy has a way of painting a picture with his lyrical style and musical arrangements. As
I listen to these songs, I can clearly see the story unfolding in my mind's eye. He has a
wonderful ability to convey honest emotions in his songs, both in the lyrics and his vocals.
It's interesting to note that Randy had originally wanted to be a painter, with plans to attend
commercial arts school. But music soon took hold for him and a career was born.
The first single released from "Lufkin" is called "Big In Texas.” Randy explains that he had
the idea for the song some years ago. He and co-writer David Lee had composed much
of the song, but with a different title. It remained unfinished until one day when Randy
happened to stop at a gas station in Texas called "Biggs," which had a large sign with the
state of Texas on it. The phrase "Everything's bigger in Texas" came to him, which in turn,
reminded him of the song he and David had started long ago. Suddenly, it all came
together, and they finished it up for this album.
