"Stars In Their Eyes" is the story of a musician who comes to Nashville
with big dreams of becoming a star. But the real message here says it's
all about the joy of the dream and keeping stars in your eyes and
enjoying the experience no matter what level of success you may
achieve. In contrast, the song "I Sold A Lot Of Beer" says "I sold a lot of
beer in Nashville and never saved a dime. I'll sell a lot of beer in Texas
and I'll have a better time".
"He's Just A Cowboy" seems to me to be a simple title, but the message
in the song could not be more complex. Being a cowboy involves a
lifetime of commitment to hard work and integrity. Whether or not a
cowboy life fits in your world, we should all aspire to be more like them
no matter what our walk of life. The song is a true story that Randy wrote
based on a rancher he knew from Nevada.
“Woman, Woman” is an open letter love song that simply owns up to
your own faults, striving to be a better person by being truthful with your
partner.
“Back In The Day” is one Randy wrote with Jessie Hunter. It talks about
things that made sense in our younger days that are different now. But
we shouldn't dwell on it, rather using those early experiences to make a
better way of life for today.
