The German-born singer and songwriter is riding the energy from a landmark year,
which included winning her first and LGBTQ history-making GRAMMY Award for
“Unholy,” alongside Sam Smith. Additionally, Petras received the Billboard Women
in Music Chartbreaker Award and graced the cover of both Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit Issue and ELLE Mexico.
Petras began creating music as a teenager in Germany. Posting
her music on YouTube, she connected with a producer in Los
Angeles, California, who would send her tracks. After becoming
friends, the producer introduced her to others in the industry and
Kim began traveling to California.
At nineteen years old she moved to Los Angeles.
Petras spent her first three months living on the couch
in a music studio, leaving by 10 o'clock in the morning
so other artists could come in and record. Kim began
writing with each and every songwriter that she could.
In 2016, she began releasing music independently
under her imprint titled Bunhead Records, eventually,
signing with Republic Records in 2021.
