Pile Groups

Piles are usually arranged in groups under the columns.

The number of piles in a group is determined as follows:

N  Pc *1.10
        Qall

Where:
N = No. of piles;
Pc = Column Load;
Qall = Allowable load of

          a single pile.

Arrangement of Pile Groups

The spacing between piles in a group can be
assumed based on the following:
1- Driven piles need higher spacing than bored

   piles.
2- Friction piles need higher spacing than end

   bearing piles.
3- Minimum spacing (S) between piles is 2.0D.
4- Maximum spacing (S) between piles is 8.0D.
5- Piles are usually spaced (2.5 to 3)D on center.
