Engineering Geology

Lecture one

Geological engineering: It is one of the earth sciences concerned with
providing the geological studies necessary to select the locations of
engineering facilities (in simpler terms, it is a direct application of
geosciences in the field of engineering works).

Geoengineering tasks

1. It studies the rocks, phenomena and geological processes that determine
the method of dealing with engineering facilities (the method of building
engineering facilities, the conditions for their investment, and the
precautions to be taken to ensure stability).

2. Study the changes that occur in the rocks and their layers, and the
geological processes and phenomena resulting from the establishment of the
various facilities.

3. Studying the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of rocks and
determining their suitability for different uses.

Geoengineering scientist

A person who is qualified because of his special knowledge of geosciences
obtained from professional education and work experience.
