Natural anticancer agents
Search for natural anticancer agent was started in1950,
after isolation and identification of vinca alkaloids and
podophyllotoxins
National Cancer Institute (NCI) initiated an extensiveplant
collection program in 1960.Plants were collected from
different countries, in vitro test (cell lines) on different
extracts, followed by isolation andidentification of active
compounds.
