Taxotere excipient is polysorbate, ethanol, citric acid.
For taxol, each mL of sterile nonpyrogenic solution contains6
mg paclitaxel, 527 mg of purified Cremophor® EL*
(polyoxyethylated castor oil) and 49.7% (v/v) dehydrated
alcohol, USP.
All patients should be pretreated with corticosteroids,
diphenhydramine, and H2 antagonists,due to Anaphylaxis
and severe hypersensitivity reactions.
Abraxane®
In January 2005, FDA approved abraxane® (protein-bound
paclitaxel). In this preparation, paclitaxel is bonded to albumin
(delivery agent) as an alternative to the toxic solvent delivery
method of taxol.
