2-Topoisomerases inhibitors
Topoisomerases are enzymes that wind and unwind the
DNA that makes up the chromosomes.
The chromosomes must be unwound to use genetic
information to synthesize proteins and also prevent entry into
the mitotic phase of cell division, leading to cell death
i-Topoisomerase II inhibitors
Etoposide and teniposide, each forms complex with
topoisomerase II and DNA, induces breaks in double
stranded DNA and prevents repair.
ii-Topoisomerase I inhibitors
Topotecan and irinotecan
