Low blood counts . white and red blood cells and platelets.
Thisincrease risk for infection, anemia and/or bleeding.
Hair loss (alopecia).
A serious, but uncommon side effect of doxorubicin is a
decreasein the heart’s pumping capability. ECHO test is
recommended before taking doxorubicin.
There is a lifetime maximum dose that a patient can receive.
Thismay be lower if patient have heart disease risk factors.
Dose-related heart problems can occur as late as 7 or 8
years after treatments have ended.
