Cathine (Nor-ψ-ephedrine)                       Cathinone

production, sale, and consumption are legal in the nations where its use is a part
of their cultural traditions as in Yemen, Djibouti, Somalia and Ethiopia.

Uses

Cathine has CNS stimulating effect; so, the alkaloids, as well as the plant are
being used (or even abused) for the same effect.
Cathinone is the principal CNS stimulant
Cathinone has similar pharmacological properties to the synthetic CNS
stimulant, (+) amphetamine, with a similar potency.

Side effects

Excessive cathinone usage can cause loss of appetite, anxiety, irritability,
insomnia, hallucinations and panic attacks.

Action and uses
Hallucinogenic with many complex effect on the CNS.

Tests for identification
    Mescaline gives with Marquis' reagent an orange color.
    Mescaline gives with ammonium molybdate a green color that turns to blue.
