- Black tea leaves also contain epigallocatechin gallate but in much lower
quantities, WHY?
-That's because black tea leaves are fermented, during which catechins are
oxidized to darker coloured molecules (Phlobaphene).
Action of Epigallocatechin gallate:
- It possess the most potent antioxidant activity of catechins (antioxidant).
- A number of chronic disease have been associated with free radical damage,
including cancer, arteriosclerosis
- Epigallocatechin gallate may be effective in promoting fat oxidation and
lowering body weight.
