Types of Chemical markers

• Esterification:

 Esterification is used to prepare derivatives of the

carboxyl group.

 Thus, in fatty acids, the conversion of the carboxyl

group to methyl ester increases volatility by decreasing
hydrogen bonding.

BF3 is used as a catalyst in 8-14% in the appropriate

alcohol.
