Types of Chemical markers

  phenol, primary or secondary alcohol or amine, can

      be derivatized by acylation.

Trifluoroacetates (TFA), penta fluoropropionates

(PFP), or heptafluorobutyrates (HFB) are used to increase
sensitivity of detection.

  • Silylation:
For alcohols, phenols, carboxylic acids, amines and

  amides by using silylating agent such as
  hexamethyldisilazane
2 ROH + (CH3)3SiNHSi(CH3)3 → 2 ROSi(CH3)3 + NH3
