Sulphated ash
• Sulphated ash involves treatment of the drug
• with dil. H2SO4 before ignition.
• So, all oxides & carbonates are converted to sulphates
and ignition is carried out at higher temperature (600 -
800ºc).
B . Acid – insoluble ash
The majority of drugs contain Ca oxalate, in variable
amounts.
• The total ash of these drugs vary within wide limits.
