➢It is the second step in aerobic respiration, named after
 Sir Hans Krebs, who discovered the intermediate
 compounds of this cycle.

➢Pyruvic acid, the product of glycolysis, gets converted
 into acetyl Coenzyme A by oxidative decarboxylation
 (This is called the preparatory phase).
