• The great penetrating qualities of ethylene oxide gas make it a

useful agent in certain special applications.

• It is used for sterilization of:

➢ Medical and surgical supplies and appliances such as

catheters, needles, and plastic disposable syringes in their final

plastic packaging just prior to shipment.

➢ Certain heat-labile preparations of enzyme, certain antibiotics,

and other drugs, after testing for the absence of chemical reaction.
