Ophthalmic DD: Introduction
Anatomy & physiology
Fluid composition
Aqueous Humor:
• It is a clear fluid hosted in the anterior and posterior chambers
• It is composed mainly of water, glucose and amino acids.
Vitreous Humor:
• It is a gel-like material occupying the space between the lens and
the retina.
• The close proximity of the vitreous to the retina and choroid makes
it a direct place for drug delivery to the posterior tissues.
