Ophthalmic DD: Introduction

                                 Definitions

     • Ophthalmic route: the application of a sterile preparation to the

     external parts of the eye.

     • Intraocular route: the delivery a sterile preparation within the eye.

     • Ophthalmic dosage forms: pharmaceutical preparations that are

     applied topically to the eye to treat surface or intraocular conditions,

     including infections of the eye or eyelids, inflammation, glaucoma,

     and dry eye, among others.
