• In a healthy adult male 75 kg with a blood volume of 5 litres, a
blood glucose level of 100 mg/dL corresponds to about 5 g of
glucose in the blood and approximately 45 g in the total body
water.

• Glucose level fluctuates throughout the day. It is usually lowest
in the morning, before the first meal of the day (Pre-meal or
fasting level) to about 70–110 mg/dL and rise after meals (post-
meal or post-prandial) glucose level for an hour or two by a few
grams (less than 150 mg/dl).
