- These are referred to as the dark reactions this can be summarized as follows:

2 H2O + CO2 + light chlorophyII→ (CH 2O) + H 2O + O

 Through the above-mentioned photosynthetic process various monosaccharides
    are produced, via phosphorylated sugars e.g. Glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-
    6-phosphate. The latter monosaccharide phosphates are then utilized by the plant
    cell either as energy or as a building unit to give disaccharides and
    polysaccharides ... etc.
