* SOURCES :
- Iron salts are added to water samples as flocculating
agents to remove suspended matters from water
during purification processes.
The maximum permissible iron conc. in public waters
is 0.2 mg/l. Higher conc. must be removed as it may
cause unaccepted taste and staining problems.

(1) Bipyridine method :
2,2-Bipyridine reagent reacts with iron (II) to form a pink to deep red
to iron (II) with ascorbic acid
