   1- Saponifiable Lipids "Glyceride Lipid"
Esters of fatty acids (aliphatic acid with high molecular weight) with

     glycerol (tri hydroxide alcohol)

                                                                          Saponification

→Such esters are easily hydrolyzed by alkali glycerol + alkali salts of the fatty acids

                                                                         Ex: (Soap)
                                                                         NaO

1- Saponifiable Lipids "Glyceride Lipid“ Classification:

A- according to the number of esterified hydroxyl group:
Monoglyceride: One hydroxyl gp of glycerol is esterified
Diglyceride: Two hydroxyl gps of glycerol are esterified
Triglyceride: Three hydroxyl gps of glycerol are esterified
B- according to the nature of fatty acids:
Simple glycerides: the same fatty acid radicals
Mixed glycerides: different fatty acid radicals

                                                                                                                                                                                                           156
