Calcium Gluconate

 It is the calcium salt of gluconic acid

Preparation:
Electrolytic oxidation of glucose in the presence of calcium carbonate.
Uses:
1- Nontoxic source of calcium (oral, IM. and I.V.).
2- Calcium therapy is indicated in conditions such as parathyroid deficiency, general
calcium deficiency
