Bronze is bright and shiny, but when it is rubbed, its blackness appears.
Washing it, its impurity is not removed, even if it is washed a hundred times.

                       There are houses, mansions and tall buildings, painted on all sides;
but they are empty within, and they crumble like useless ruins.

The herons (bglw) in their white feathers dwell in the sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
They tear apart and eat the living beings, and so they are not called white.

My body is like the simmal tree; seeing me, other people are fooled.
Its fruits are useless - just like the qualities of my body.

Sajjan was stunned at hearing the Shabad. He felt his soul had been
pierced. He felt Guru Ji knew about his sinful deeds. He fell on Guru Ji’s

feet and cried like a child. He kissed Guru Ji’s feet and spoke, “Guru Ji, I
have sinned. Please forgive me my sins.”

“Sajjana, God sees all your actions. All the wealth you amass is going to

stay here; but your sins will go with you and you will have the consequences
of these. If you do good deeds, you will be remembered.”

When Guru Nanak Dev Ji spoke these words, he broke down again and fell
             on Guru Ji’s feet.

Guru Ji advised that he must ask for forgiveness. He must return the
money to the relatives of the people he had killed. Guru Ji also asked him

to demolish his big house and make a Dharamsala where he should do
Paath, Naam Simran and seva. Sajjan did that too.

It is said that that was the first Dharamsala or Gurdwara ever build. And
Guru Ji transformed Sajjan into a true Sajjan. After transforming Sajjan

Thugg to Sajjan Sant, Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana moved on. On
the way Mardana Ji asked Guru Ji, “Guru Ji, why did you put your own life
in danger by visiting a dangerous killer?”

Guru Ji kept walking. “Mardanay, don’t you think it is a good idea to

transform a dirty pond into a clean water fountain? Imagine, how many
more people he would have killed? Now that he is reformed, how many lives

will be saved now. Many poor people will be helped by him now. And now
