Lesson 12: Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Travels


                                                        Guru Nanak Dev Ji - along with Bhai Bala
                                                        Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji visited religious

                                                        places of all religions -Hindus, Muslims,
                                                        Buddhists, Jains, Yogis and Sidhs where

                                                        He held discussions with religious leaders.
                                                        He often challenged their meaningless

                                                        rituals and beliefs. These travels of Guru
                                                        Nanak Dev Ji are remembered as Udaasis
                                                        (audwsIAW).




















             Places Guru Ji visited can be grouped into four long Udaasis. First one was
             to the east, second one to the south, third one to the North and finally

             the  fourth  one  to  the  West.  He  went  as  far  as  Assam  in  the  east,  Sri
             Lanka in the south, Ladakh in the north and Mecca Medina in the west. He

             travelled  mostly  on  foot  but  for  Mecca  he  took  an  ocean  route.  He
             returned via Iraq, Iran, Russia and Afghanistan.


             During  these  travels,  Guru  Nanak  Dev  Ji  changed  the  lives  of  countless
             people. Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave His message of living a divine life free of

             superstitions and rituals in a unique, interesting and effective way.
