Guru Nanak Dev Ji - along with Bhai Bala
Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji visited religious
places of all religions -Hindus, Muslims,
Buddhists, Jains, Yogis and Sidhs where
He held discussions with religious leaders.
He often challenged their meaningless
rituals and beliefs. These travels of Guru
Nanak Dev Ji are remembered as Udaasis
(audwsIAW).
Places Guru Ji visited can be grouped into four long Udaasis. First one was
to the east, second one to the south, third one to the North and finally
the fourth one to the West. He went as far as Assam in the east, Sri
Lanka in the south, Ladakh in the north and Mecca Medina in the west. He
travelled mostly on foot but for Mecca he took an ocean route. He
returned via Iraq, Iran, Russia and Afghanistan.
During these travels, Guru Nanak Dev Ji changed the lives of countless
people. Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave His message of living a divine life free of
superstitions and rituals in a unique, interesting and effective way.
