Chapter 15: Whose Bani is Included in
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji?
Guru Granth Sahib is a Scripture that not only includes the Bani of Sikh Gurus,
but also of Hindu Bhagats and Muslim Fakeers.
Each of the first five Gurus contributed Gurbani to Guru Granth Sahib. Bani of
ninth Guru, Guru Teg Bahadur was added by the tenth Guru.

Guru Ram Das 679 Shabads

Bani of fifteen Bhagats is included in Guru Granth Sahib as well. Out of all
Bhagats, largest contribution 541 hymns and Saloks is from Bhagat Kabeer. He
was a Muslim saint who was influenced by the Hindu saint Bhagat Ramanand.
Kabeer Ji was a weaver by trade. He considered all creatures on earth as
important.
A Muslim saint whose Bani is included in Guru Granth Sahib is Sheikh Fareed Ji.

He was a Sufi saint from Punjab born in 12 century. 134 of Baba Fareed’s saloks
are included in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. His emphasis is on doing good actions.
There is Bani of 15 Bhagats. Their names are Bhagat Namdev Ji, Bhagat Ravidas
Ji, Bhagat Trilochan Ji, Bhagat Dhanna Ji, Bhagat Baini Ji, Bhagat Bhikan Ji,
