Sukritee Singh
My name is Sukritee Singh, and
I am a proud and grateful
Hemkunt Foundation alumna. My
family and I moved to the
Silicon Valley in 1998 when I
was nine years old. We were
quickly welcomed into the
Sangat and Khalsa School at
the San Jose Gurdwara. There
I learned Gurmukhi, Gurbani,
and Keertan. I started
participating in the Hemkunt
speech competitions in 1999.
Over the years, with the
immense support and guidance
from my parents and the
Khalsa School Sangat, I
traveled to numerous cities
(such as Washington DC, New
York, London, Philadelphia, and
Orlando) and won multiple
medals at the international
stage. It was a great privilege
to have such a platform to
learn about our rich Sikh
history & traditions and to
remain connected to my roots
growing up in America.
The skills that I learned and the self confidence that I developed have continued to support me in my
goals beyond my time at Hemkunt. I am now a board certified Internal Medicine physician practicing as
a Hospitalist in Sacramento, California. I am thankful that I can continue to care for and support my
community every day. I wish and pray for continued progress, improvement, and growth in the Hemkunt
Foundation so that the next generation of Sikh children will also learn about our history and culture.
