Ranald had a vast knowledge of the

coffee and wider hot beverage industry,
both businesses and their leaders
He invested his time most graciously,
often now in reflection I can see he was
a mentor , without me ever realising it!
He was in every sense a wonderful
man, who left a heartfelt legacy in
all that knew him.
David Veal, Executive Director, ESTA
I first met Ranald in 1981 when he
interviewed me for a job which introduced
me to the coffee industry and for that alone I
am grateful to have known him.
During and after the interview he showed me great kindness
and consideration, two of the many virtues which he
possessed.
I worked with him on and off over the years at ACS, Autobar,
and through the BSA and got to know him as a colleague, a
friend and a mentor.
He will be greatly missed by many, but for me I
will always think of him whenever his beloved
Cally Thistle is mentioned!

Ranald will always be remembered for his
generosity of shared knowledge and
endless energy in developing the BSA.
We had great times together sharing a similar
sense of humour, things like Scottish golf red ink

beyond.
I could easily have written 500 words
of wonderful memories shared by
many founding members.
