3- In-use test
A simple to use test was described by Maurer in 1985 that can be used in hospitals
and laboratories to detect contamination of disinfectants.
Neutralizing Agents— Neutralizing agents may be used to neutralize the activity
of antimicrobial agents. They may be added to the chosen diluent or the medium
preferably before sterilization
Kelsey–Maurer test
Equipments:
1. Test disinfectants.
2. A test tube containing 9 ml diluent with an inactivator (n. broth+ tween
20).
3. Two nutrient agar plates
4. 1 ml sterile pipette
5. Automatic pipette one Pasteur pipette.
