4- 3-Human schistosomes (blood flukes)

1- S. haematobium egg:

- Size: 120 x 60 µ.
-Shape: oval.
-Shell: thin with terminal spine.
-Colour: translucent.

-Contents: mature miracidium.

2- S. mansoni egg:

-Size: 140 x 70 µ.

-Shape: oval.
-Shell: thin with lateral spine.
-Colour: translucent.
-Contents: mature miracidium.

3- Adult :

-Unlike the flukes, adult schistosomes
have the sexes separate, with the female

residing in a gynecophoral canal within
the male.
- Male worms are robust, tuberculate

and measure 6-12 mm in length
- Females are longer (7-17 mm in
length) and slender.
