therefore, is that the selected aspects of the methodology of Jesus’ preaching can provide an
alternative to the dominant methodology of contemporary Korean preaching. The selected
aspects will include Jesus’ preaching in the Nazareth synagogue, parabolic preaching on the
Kingdom of heaven, and the Sermon on the Mount as presented in the canonical Synoptic
Gospels. Without a timely reformative change in the methodology of preaching, Korean
churches will face a more serious crisis than what she has experienced these last ten years.
Significance of the Research
In order to find a way through these problems with Korean preaching, young
homileticians in Korea are beginning to exert their efforts in research and writing. Much of

recent writings reflect a paradigm shift in homiletics, styles and methods of preaching, and

hermeneutics and theology. The research deals with various areas: communication, New
practical science.” The concept of Methodology in this research includes theoretical
understanding of both preaching and practical communicative techniques.
