Long story short, you can say that a column chart is the same thing as a bar chart, turned by 90

degrees. Indeed, a column chart is a type of chart that resembles a bar graph with bars positioned

               vertically.

When should you use a column chart?

The main difference between a column chart and a bar chart is in the usage of categorical labels.
Long labels don't suit column charts because of easy overlapping. But it might be useful if the

labels are short and don’t take up a lot of horizontal space.

Column charts can sometimes be useful when showing date-over-time data. But there is a
limitation. It only works if there are only a few timestamps. For an extended number of

timestamps, it's better to use line charts.
