Bar charts are universal. It can be used everywhere, from a school project to a scientific paper. It
is widely recognizable. Bar charts are commonly used due to their simplicity. Viewers need just to
decode their bars' length and position, making bar charts very easy to understand. The general
public is fairly capable of reading bar charts, so no extra dataviz expertise is necessary. The
differences in bar length are easier to perceive, than, for example, differences in size and color.
For this reason, bar charts are doing their job well. You should consider using bar charts in your
data visualization if the data structure and the actual message allow for it.
