Re-routing:
Finding our way back to Christ.
Rev. Bibins Mathews Omanaly
Route?
The concept of ‘way’ was very important in the early church. The followers of
Christ were ²rst called ‘Christians’ in Antioch. Before that they were called ‘the
People of the way’. The term ‘Christian’ was a judgemental term or disrespectful
term. Jesus had said so many times about the way to the Kingdom, the way to the
Father, the way to God.
In Matthew 7:14, Jesus says that narrow is the way and straight is the gate that
leads to life. A route is a predetermined or chosen way of action. It could be a
speci²c route or direction between locations. A route is a strategy for getting
somewhere.
Re-route?
Re-routing is to alter the course of action or technique used. The route will differ
from what was anticipated or previously taken. In his poem, “The Road Not Taken”
Robert Frost wrote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less
travelled by — And that has made all the difference.”
Re-routing is a battle for patience. Our ²ght to let go of our temper and
unpleasantness is ongoing, place others' needs ahead of our own, and remain clear
about our priorities. We'll miss the way, if we follow the crowd. We must follow
Jesus Christ, the only way to life, by which access is gained to the Kingdom of
Heaven.
