The Red Truck.
Aaron T. Mathew
Roll No.: 260
A young kid had a favorite toy, one held dear, a red truck. The Truck, in the kid’s
imagination, was the best truck in the whole world. One day the kid was playing
with it near the river and slipped, causing the truck to tumble and fall into the
river. The sad child at ²rst went home and told the parents about it, the kid cried
and cried but they did nothing. Full of sadness and frustration the kid asked them
“what should I do”, and they replied “if you want it then you should go and get it”.
With the determination to do what they said, the kid followed the river. Walking
after a little time the kid saw the truck drifting in the river, down it went without
even looking back. The kid chased after it and stumbled.
Looking up, the kid saw his grandpa walking out of his house to help the kid.
Grandpa asked the little one, “why are you in a hurry, didn’t you see the stubbly
path ahead, full of twigs and rock, for even in my young days was I able to go as
far”. The kid after hearing this replied, “but I am not the ²rst to get all the way till
the end, my parents told me of all the others who went till there”. After saying this
the kid started to run again, following the river that seemed to never end. Quickly
after, the kid saw once again the truck, slowly drifting away.
This time the river seemed thinner than before, yet the stream never failing. The
kid ran closer and closer towards the truck, but every time it seemed further
away. At the intersection the kid saw the river parting into streams of water all
having different toys in them, some while on a rockier path seemed shorter than
others, yet the kid not knowing what to do went straight ahead following the
truck. Along way the kid thought of how fun it would have been to have followed
a different toy, so to be able to play with it in the end, but with a hard sense of
stubbornness he moved forward.
Around the river the kid saw some old friends, they all used to play together with
their favorite toys. When the kid looked closer he saw each one of them following
a river, chasing their toys, some changed the toys they used to play with while
others chose one that seemed familiar. The kid in confusion, followed the truck.
Along the way, following the river, the kid saw many other people, some who
helped while others who had betrayed.
