to a session or have to miss it or even have to quit a
game entirely. All these things can affect a gaming
session and turn it for the worse. Communication is
a simple thing; use it to ensure a quality RPG experi-
ence.
Be Ready to Play
Have everything you need to play when you go to
the game. Have dice, the character sheet, pen/pencil,
etc. Showing up to your game without dice or a char-
acter sheet, for example, makes it seem as though
you are not invested in a positive experience. Anoth-
er bit of advice is that you should buy any book that a
character is built upon, but if you can't do that make
sure you have the basic rules.
Be Attentive
It's easy to be distracted while gaming. Be wary
of smart phones, tablets, TV, music, side conversa-
tions, and anything else that may take your attention
away from the tabletop or what the other people are
saying. Limit allowing these distractions so that you
are not slowing the game .down due to you needing
situations explained to you over and over again. It is
very hard to be attentive 100% of the time, but trying
to do so can make the gaming experience smoother
and more enjoyable. Ryu Kushihara
